Southside Johnny is ready to rock. Stone Pony show was just a 'glitch in the machine'

Southside Johnny is back.

The legendary Jersey singer Southside Johnny Lyon has a full complement of concerts, including a trip to Europe, with the Asbury Jukes this spring and summer.

Lyon had fallen ill during the second of back-to-back concerts at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, celebrating the club's 50th anniversary, in February. He was taken to the hospital mid-show and subsequently postponed two shows at City Winery in New York City.

“It’s too bad that happened but I’m fine, everything’s fine,” said Lyon to the Asbury Park Press on April 22. “ I had some tests and there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with me. It as a momentary glitch in the machine, that’s all.”

“Once you get started it's hard to stop,” Lyon, 75, quipped.

Lyon will be on TV in the new documentary “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” which premieres Friday, April 26, on Hulu. He was interviewed at the Stone Pony and appears in the first episode.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were a primary source of inspiration for the young Jon Bon Jovi.

“Jon's and good guy and he’s been a real friend for a long, long time, and I like him a lot and I like his wife (Dorothea Bongiovi),” Lyon said. “They're just good people.”
