Two weekends remain in the Sun Belt Conference regular season and Southern Miss baseball still has a chance to claim first place.

However, the Golden Eagles (31-17, 15-9 Sun Belt) are in a tie with Georgia Southern for third place and will need some help. They are three games behind first-place Louisiana (35-15, 18-6) and second-place Troy (34-16, 16-8) is sandwiched in between. Southern Miss doesn't have the tiebreaker with Louisiana either after losing that series two weeks ago.

Southern Miss' worry for the weekend is Arkansas State, though it's 9-0 all-time against the Red Wolves.

Pitching has been an issue for Arkansas State (20-26-1, 7-16-1), which has a 6.53 ERA. It beat Memphis 7-4 on Tuesday but only has one conference series win.
