South Shore's elite brought their best: Presenting our 2023 Boys Golf All-Scholastic teams
Another notable season of high school boys golf on the South Shore has come and gone.
There were no shortage of MVP awards, all-star appearances, curtain calls to remember and performances the underclassmen can build upon for next fall.
Bridgewater-Raynham's Richie Thayer, Duxbury's Owen Hamilton, Hanover's Chris Doherty, East Bridgewater's Evan Redder and Abington's Hunter Grafton all received MVP honors from their respective leagues to headline a flurry of all-stars up and down the lists below.
A total of 35 names across 17 South Shore schools made the cut.
Here are the 2023 Patriot Ledger/Enterprise All-Scholastic teams:
FIRST TEAM

WHITMAN-HANSON
Senior put it all together in his final season, finishing as the team medalist in 10 of the Panthers' 16 matches. ... Shot an average of 4.9 over par this season. ... Earned Team MVP award and Patriot League All-Star honors. ... Tied for fifth at Division 2 state qualifiers at Easton Country Club. ... Said coach Brian Dempsey, "Blake is someone we will never be able to replace. His love for the game has continued to increase over the past four years and his dedication and commitment to getting better is both contagious and inspiring."
CHRIS DOHERTY
HANOVER
Senior captain is a two-time state championship individual finalist and Patriot League Fisher Division MVP. ... Three-time Patriot League All-Star selection. ... Repeat All-Scholastic. ... Led Hanover to a league co-championship, averaging 38.2.
CARSON ERICK
HINGHAM
Senior was took home Patriot League All-Star honors after winning the MVP as a junior. ... Shot for a 36.6 average this season. ... 2022 Massachusetts Junior Amateur champ. ... Led Hingham to the state final match, where he came in tied for third and shot 3-over par.
DREW GOLDEN
HINGHAM
Junior shot for a 36.4 season average. ... Selected to Patriot League All-Star team. ... Will be a senior captain next fall. ... Said coach Eric Gill, "As a junior, Drew was a leader on the team. He will continue to work hard and be a role model both on and off the golf course."
HUNTER GRAFTON
ABINGTON
Senior shot for an average of 2.5 over par this season, good for best among South Shore League Tobin Division golfers. ... League Player of the Year shot par or better five times. ... Said coach Jason Scott, "No moment was ever too big for Hunter. He was the best player on course in nearly every match we played this season."

JONATHAN HALPIN
ABINGTON
Senior averaged 4.5 shots over par for the season, one of the best standings in the South Shore League. ... Received league all-star honors. ... He and his playing partner, Evan St. Martin, were outscored by opponents just one time in 16 matches. Said coach Jason Scott, "Jonathan was a gamer, always coming through with big points in big moments. His teammates responded to his competitive desire in a way that kept us in every match we played this year."
OWEN HAMILTON
DUXBURY
Senior captained Duxbury to a 14-5 overall record and fourth-place finish at the state finals. ... Was the Dragons' top golfer for four years. ... Three-time Patriot League All-Star elected to be Keenan Division MVP. ... Shot for a 38.3 season average. ... Led tam in pars (92) and putting (15.2 per nine holes). ... Shot a 78 in the finals. ... Will continue career at Babson College.

Junior shot between 1-under par and 3-over in 12 of Archbishop Williams' 14 matches this season. ... Shot a 72 at Catholic Central League championship, good for seventh place at Hillview Country Club in North Reading. ... Two-time league All-Star shot a 78 at Division 2 Sectional at Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham.

Senior was voted this year's South Shore League Sullivan Division Player of the Year. ... League All-Star all four years of career. ... Shot an average 39.5 this season. ... Had a scoring average of 22.4 Stableford points. ... Finished with a head-to-head record of 10-3-1, and career match record of 33-6-3. ... Spearheaded team's first-ever appearance in Div. 3 state final with a 78 at the Central Sectional. ... Tied for seventh at state final. ... Shot one-under on Oct. 16, the lowest round play an East Bridgewater golfer in 15 years.

Senior was a South Shore League All-Star and a four-year starter. ... Averaged 5.5 shots over par this season. ... He and his partner Jonathan Halpin were outscored by an opponent in one of 16 matches this season. ... Played in the state tournament three consecutive seasons. ... Said coach Jason Scott, "Evan was the heart and soul of the team. ... While Evan wasn't always the best golfer on the team, there is no player in the league I would pick over him when starting a new team."

Junior was between 2-under and 4-over in 11 of 14 matches this season. ... Shot a 71 at the Catholic Central League championship, good for third place at Hillview Country Club in North Reading. ... Shot a 77 at Division 2 Sectionals at Maple Gate Country Club in Bellingham. ... Repeat All-Scholastic and league All-Star selection.

Sophomore led all Hanover scorers with a 37.6 average. ... Shot under par three times, including his best of 4-under Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. ... Was the driving force behind Hanover’s co-league Patriot League Fisher Division championship.

Senior from Marion had a 39.1 scoring average. ... Had a 7-birdie performance at Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill. ... Shot a 77 at the Wachusett Invitational in October. ... Placed 42nd at states.

Senior captain bounced back from Tommy John surgery his sophomore year and held down the Raider's top spot his entire career. ... Patriot League All-Star. ... Guided team to he Division 2 state tournament for the school's first qualifier since 2007. ... A 4 handicap, he earned a 40.3 scoring average.
