South Dakota State shuts out Youngstown State, clinche share of ocnference title

South Dakota State held Youngstown State scoreless in a 34-0 win to clinch a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference title on Saturday.

The Jackrabbits remain undefeated and atop the Missouri Valley after their 24th consecutive win dating back to last season.

SDSU completed its first shutout since 2021 by coming up with two crucial red zone stops in the second half. South Dakota outgained the Penguins in total yardage 490 to 207. Youngstown State rushed for only 47 yards.

SDSU’s defense was well prepared from the start, forcing three and outs on the Penguins' first two possessions. The Jackrabbits defense also only allowed 15 yards through the first three drives.

Wide receiver Jadon Janke ended the game with a career-high 166 receiving yards on seven receptions while running back Isaiah Davis led the game in rushing yards with 130 on 19 carries.

Gronowski posted a season-high 295 passing yards, completing 19 of his 28 passes. He also had three passing touchdowns.

The Jackrabbits will take on Missouri State at home in their final game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m.
