South Dakota State basketball: William Kyle III commits to UCLA

South Dakota State forward William Kyle III announced via Twitter on Wednesday morning that he has committed to UCLA.

The rising junior joins a Bruins team that finished their 2023-24 campaign a game under .500 (16-17, 10-10) and fell in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament. UCLA will be making the move to the Big Ten Conference next season.

Kyle III had a breakout sophomore season for the Jackrabbits, averaging 13 points per game on 62% shooting from the field and 6.6 rebounds per game.

The Bellevue, Neb. native won Summit League Defensive Player of the Year and the Summit League Tournament MVP. Kyle III played a significant role in the Jackrabbits winning the Summit League Tournament and making their seventh NCAA Tournament berth.

SDSU defeated Denver in the Summit League championship game, 76-68, to receive an auto-bid in the NCAA Tournament. Kyle III recorded a double-double in that game, scoring 15 points and he hauled in 11 rebounds.

South Dakota State faced Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and lost, 82-65. Kyle III scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
