South Carolina women's basketball star Kamilla Cardoso shares wholesome moment with young fan

Kamilla Cardoso is a competitor on the basketball court. Off the court, she melts the hearts of her fans.

Cardoso helped South Carolina win its second national championship in three years, taking down Caitlin Clark and Iowa to complete a perfect season. Cardoso has been making the rounds following the national championship, meeting with fans at events ahead of the 2024 WNBA Draft, scheduled for Monday, April 15.

At an event Thursday, a video clip, shared by Matt Dowell of WACH FOX in Columbia, South Carolina, is making the rounds on social media. Cardoso signed an autograph for a young girl and then posed for a picture with her. After Cardoso finishes her autograph, she leans over, puts her hand on the girl and makes a hand gesture. The girl is seen in the video sneaking a look at Cardoso to ensure she is also correctly making the hand signal.

The video was also shared on Instagram by the Highlighther account, with Cardoso tagged. Cardoso replied with an emoji of holding back tears and a heart.

Cardoso, from Montes Claros, Brazil, won two national championships with the Gamecocks after transferring from Syrcause following her freshman season. A recent ESPN mock draft projected her to be the Chicago Sky's No. 3 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, behind Clark and Stanford's Cameron Brink. The WNBA season is scheduled to start May 15.
