South Carolina vs Tennessee live updates: Gamecocks upset Vols

Joyner scores again

The Gamecocks might’ve sealed an upset after recovering a fumble by Hooker and scoring another touchdown on a Joyner read-option run out of the wildcat.

Rattler throws fifth touchdown

In the hunt for an upset over No. 5 Tennessee, Rattler threw his fifth touchdown of the game to give the Gamecocks a 49-31 lead. Rattler threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Bell, escaping pressure in the pocket.

Gamecocks add to lead

Rattler and the Gamecocks responded to Tennessee’s touchdown drive with one of their own. Receiver Antwane Wells, Jr. scored on a 3-yard jet sweep.

Tennessee cuts deficit

Hooker found Princeton Fant for a 41-yard touchdown to cut the Gamecock lead to four points.

Vols score before half

Hooker connected with receiver Bru McCoy for a 7-yard touchdown just before halftime.

Rattler-Vann connect again

Rattler threw his fourth touchdown of the game and second to Vann on a 16-yard strike.

Tennessee field goal

Vols kicker Chase McGrath made a 27-yard field goal to push the score to 28-17.

Gamecocks keep pounding

USC’s offense shows no signs of letting up and put together another scoring drive that included multple trick plays. Multi-faceted receiver/wildcat quarterback Dakereon Joyner completed a pass to quarterback Spencer Rattler, and Joyner later scored on a 1-yard rush.

Tennessee inches closer

The Vols converted on a fourth and goal play — a 3-yard reception by Cedric Tillman — to cut away at their deficit.

Rattler in control

Rattler led the Gamecocks on yet another touchdown drive — his third of the first quarter. He threw an 11-yard touchdown to running back Juju McDowell and is up to 185 passing yards.

Vann scores 60-yard touchdown

Playing aggressive offensive football, the Gamecocks once again converted on a fourth-down play, then Rattler connected with receiver Josh Vann for a 60-yard touchdown.

Tennessee punches back

Hendon Hooker and the Tennessee offense needed just four plays to even the score against the Gamecocks, scoring on a 31-yard touchdown run by Jabari Small.

Gamecocks strike first

Quarterback Spencer Rattler and the Gamecocks engineered a nine-play, 75-yard opening drive, going for it on 4th and 6 on Tennessee’s side of the field, then converting a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jaheim Bell.

Uniform report vs. Tennessee

South Carolina will suit up in black helmets, garnet jerseys and garnet pants. The Gamecocks will wear helmet decals in support of the University of Virginia football team after three Cavaliers players were shot and killed Sunday.
