Top storylines for the game
All hands on deck: Eleven different skill position players received a touch for the Gamecocks last weekend against Vanderbilt. Shane Beamer also said it was QB Spencer Rattler’s best game at South Carolina. The team carries that 38-point performance into Florida, a team the Gamecocks scored 40 against last year.
MarShawn Lloyd’s status: Lloyd missed the team’s game against Vanderbilt and was limited in practice this week. The team is optimistic he can play. Lloyd’s been the most reliable weapon for the team, with 11 total touchdowns this year.
Back-to-back?: South Carolina defeated Florida last year in Beamer’s first season, a win that snapped the team’s three-game losing streak against the Gators. USC last defeated Florida in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014.
Gators’ success at The Swamp: Florida has gone 24-6 at home since 2018, and hasn’t lost more than two games at home in any season during that stretch. The Gators are currently 4-2 at home.
Anthony Richardson’s athleticism: Richardson starts at quarterback for Florida. He’s responsible for 17 touchdowns this year — nine with his arm and seven with his legs. Richardson’s elusiveness as a runner is a big reason why Florida is third in the SEC in rushing yards.

Players to watch
Jaheim Bell, TE, South Carolina: Bell found his way back into the offense against Vanderbilt with 19 touches and 83 yards of offense. He was touted before the season began as the team’s do-it-all “wide back,” and he had the chance to show that last week. South Carolina could continue to look for him in different ways against Florida.
Antwane Wells, WR, South Carolina: Wells is seventh in the SEC with 41 catches and tied for seventh with 574 yards. Wells has developed a strong connection with Spencer Rattler in the passing game and continues to be a big part of the team’s offense.
Montrell Johnson, RB, Florida: Johnson leads the Gators with 549 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The Gamecocks sometimes struggle against the run, so there could be opportunities for Johnson to make plays on Saturday.
Amari Burney, LB, Florida: Burney is an active defender for Florida. He’s recorded four sacks this year along with two interceptions. Burney has three quarterback hits and two forced fumbles this year as well.
