South Carolina man killed in drive-by shooting, coroner says

A South Carolina man was killed in a drive-by shooting Monday, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

Marquel S. Judge, a 30-year-old Graniteville resident, died of a gunshot wound, Coroner Darryl Ables said in a news release.

The shooting happened at about 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of Edgefield Highway, according to the release. That’s in Aiken, less than 2 miles from Exit 18 on Interstate 20.

Judge was a passenger in a car when a second vehicle pulled up and an occupant/occupants started shooting into the car, Ables said.

Judge was driven to an area hospital where he died at 8:23 p.m., according to the release.

An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, Ables said.

No other injuries were reported.

There was no word on a shooter, or shooters, or any motive for the gunfire.

No arrests have been reported by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the shooting along with the coroner’s office.
