South Carolina lost one of its higher-profile commitments on Wednesday night.

Four-star 2023 linebacker Jaden Robinson announced via Twitter that he had flipped his pledge from USC to Florida, leaving a hole for the Gamecocks to fill heading into the fall.

Robinson — the No. 379 player and No. 32 linebacker in the class, per the 247Sports Composite — previously committed to South Carolina on July 4 following an official visit in June. The Gators staff had remained after the Lake City, Florida product following his announcement, eventually leading to Wednesday night.

South Carolina now has one linebacker committed in its 2023 class in four-star Grayson “Pup” Howard, who’s also from the Sunshine State.

The Gamecocks have 16 commitments in their class and remain in the mix for a handful of players who will announce their decisions before the seasons begins, including four-star defensive end Desmond Umeozulu three-star athlete Vicari Swain.

Swain is set to announce his decision on Friday, while Umeozulu’s is scheduled for Aug. 29.
