On Sunday, coach Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks took their third national championship in women’s NCAA basketball, defeating Iowa 87-75 despite the team’s rising star Caitlin Clark, and completing a perfect undefeated (38-0) season. As the game wrapped and the cheers from the audience billowed, Staley grasped her well-deserved golden trophy while pink confetti rained down on her and her elated players.

As we witnessed the historic moment—and because this is Harper’s Bazaar, not ESPN—we couldn’t help but notice Staley’s outfit. The effortlessly cool coach and three-time gold Olympic medalist wore a silver Louis Vuitton jacket and white sneakers printed with the Vuitton monogram from the house’s recently-released collaboration with rapper Tyler, the Creator.

The rodeo-inspired cropped calfskin leather jacket has black pockets on the sides and round silver studs at the neckline (her own nod to Cowboy Carter mania perhaps?). Coach Staley paired the jacket with a black top and sweats, and accessorized with a purple and green beaded necklace with her name on it, large silver hoop earrings, and of course, the standout sneakers.

Staley has always had a thing for great jackets and sneakers, but if there was ever a time for her to dress like the main character, this was her chance—and she took it.

Fashion and beauty have always been intertwined with women’s sports, but the past few years have brought a new era of style to the playing field. Courtside dressing and tunnel ’fits have proven to be a fresh form of individual self-expression in a space where sports where uniforms and a team mentality are required. And we’re not talking about the countless collaborations sports brands have done with pro-athletes like Serena Williams and Simone Biles. We’re talking about track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson wearing bright crimson braids and long butterfly lashes while sprinting faster than any woman ever has; and soccer pro Trinity Rodman scoring championship-winning goals in a set of funky acrylic nails, then changing into a fur-lined denim Adidas suit after the game. We’re even talking about LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey shouting plays from the sidelines while in a bright pink feather-trimmed floral jacket.
