All the Songs and Dances for 'Dancing with the Stars' ‘Music Video Night'

Val Chmerkovskiy, Xochitl Gomez

Dancing with the Stars is borrowing a page from some of the best dance videos of previous eras when the eight remaining dance teams will compete to songs behind some of music’s most iconic videos.

And who would be more appropriate to join judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli to critique the dancers than singer, dancer, choreographer Paula Abdul, who has to her credit the hit music video “Straight Up,” but also choreographed Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "Nasty" and "Control" music videos?

As the number of dance teams is half of what the season began with, each couple will perform two dances. I addition to their solo dances, the eight couples will be divided into two teams for a DWTS dance competition.

Team 4 Everybody—Alyson & Sasha, Jason & Daniella, Ariana & Pasha and Barry & Peta— will perform to “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by the Backstreet Boys.

Team Young’n Style—Harry & Rylee, Lele & Brandon, Xochitl & Val and Charity & Artem—will perform to “Gangnam Style” by PSY.

Xochitl Gomez exclusively tells Parade, “Any music video by OK Go is a favorite. They’re just so creative. As someone who wants to direct music videos that was something that’s so out of the box. And another one story-wise is Taylor Swift’s ‘All Too Well’ 10-minute version. That was like a film and a music video all in one. Also, Gwen Stefani’s ‘Wind It Up.’ Those are kind of my top three.”

And her partner Val Chmerkovskiy says, “In the ‘90s, you had Total Request Live. I remember coming home from school and that was the thing you watched. My most notable video? I’d say ‘Mo Money Mo Problems’ by Biggie and Mase. I’d say Missy Elliott’s ‘Get Ur Freak On’ was an iconic video. And then ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Marilyn Manson I’ll never forget watching that because it was so scary.”

“If I had a choice, it would have to be Missy Elliott's ‘Work It,’ says Charity Lawson. “I am obsessed with her music, but also that music video. Probably more so the song. She’s everything.”

And for Sasha Farber and Pasha Pashkov it’s Michael Jackson all the way. Sasha’s two favorites are “Billie Jean” and “Smooth Criminal.”

But for his partner Alyson Hannigan, “It’s the one that my husband was in when he was like 17, George Harrison’s ‘Got My Mind Set On You.’”
