Need something to do on Masters Week besides watch golf? Here's some Augusta-area fun

The headlining event of the Augusta area is this year's Masters Tournament, and between April 8 and 14, the whole community will revolve around this legendary golf event.

However, for the many out-of-town guests and the local residents who didn’t want a badge, there’s still a major need for things-to-do outside of the Augusta National. With this comes the return of certain Masters Week staples like the Drive for Show, Rock Fore! Dough and Major Rager concerts. There will also be farmers markets, trivia nights, special movie screenings, and more.

Here are more details on these and other festivities coming to the Augusta area:

Festivals, farmers markets

Aiken Art Walk is 5-8 p.m. April 9 through out downtown Aiken. More than 60 artists and five performers will be featured. There will be live art demonstrations as well as plenty to shop for from wood crafts and jewelry to photography and paintings. Admission is free.

Hephzibah's monthly Food Truck Friday is 5-9 p.m. April 12 at the Agricultural Center at 4245 Peach Orchard Rd. In addition to plenty of food trucks, there will be a farmers market, music, and face painting.

The Augusta Market returns 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 along the 8th Street Plaza off Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta. There will be several food and gift vendors plus live entertainment. Admission is free.

The first of this season's Farmers Markets at Boondocks Farms is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 in Jackson at 755 Foreman St. Guests can see the animals, gardens, and farm store while also enjoying food trucks, live music, and various vendors.

Live entertainment

Hopelands Concert Series has returned now through the end of June every Monday at Hopelands Gardens in Aiken at 135 Dupree Pl. The Gavin Reily Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more info, go to hopelandsgardens.com/happenings.

The Drive for Show, Rock Fore! Dough Concert is 5 p.m. April 10 at the "Lady A" Pavilion at Evans Towne Center Park oFf Washington Road. The headliner is Grammy-nominated country star Cole Swindell while Black Dawg of Augusta and DJ Rock will also perform. All of the night's proceeds go to First Tee - Augusta. David Feherty Live Off Tour stops in Augusta at 7:30 p.m. April 10 at Imperial Theatre at 745 Broad St. This is the professional golfer and golf broadcaster's one-man show. Tickets start at around $90. For more info, go to imperialtheatre.com.

Aberzombie's Dragenstein is ongoing and returns April 10 from 9 to 11 p.m. at Capri Lounge in Augusta at 1238 Gordon Hwy. This is a six-week competition for up-and-coming drag entertainers. A crown and $300 are at stake.

Phoenix Wrestling Experience's "Tee Time Takedown" is 6:30 p.m. April 11 at Savannah River Brewing Co. in Augusta at 813 5th St. The Villa Wagen food truck will be on site. Admission starts at $10 and is available at eventbrite.com.

The Dirty Dolls Burlesque is 11 p.m. to midnight April 12 at Edge Nightclub in Augusta at 1258 Gordon Hwy. The sultry performers will show off juggling, fire dancing, aerial acts, and more. The 10th annual Major Rager is 5-11 p.m. April 13 at the Augusta Common off Broad and Reynolds streets. The lineup includes the "Marcus King Band," "Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country," and "Funk You." The proceeds will go to the Friends With Benefits Fund, which helps area nonprofits in their various missions. General admission starts at about $40. For more info, go to fwbpro.com.

Special movie nights

In celebration of its 80th anniversary, Fathom Events is screening the epic romance "Gone with the Wind" at Regal Augusta Exchange at 1144 Agerton Ln. Showtimes are 1:25 and 7:30 p.m. April 7, and 7:30 p.m. on April 8 and 10. Tickets start at about $11 for children and $14 for adults. For more info, go to fathomevents.com.

Grovetown Library's Family Movie Afternoons are 2 p.m. April 9 and 11 in at 105 Old Wrightsboro Rd. The first will offer "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" and the second will be "The Marvels."

Flashback Cinema continues at Evans Cinemas at 4365 Towne Centre Dr. The next installments include Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather" on April 10 and Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" on April 14. For more info, go to flashbackcinema.net/schedule.

Aiken County Public Library's Double Feature is 10:30 a.m. April 11 in Aiken at 314 Chesterfield St. SW. It will show "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie" followed by "The Super Mario Bros. Movie." Admission is free.

Monetta Drive-In continues to be open every weekend with back-to-back movies being shown at each of the three screens. The first starts around dusk (around 7:45-8 p.m.) with admission getting you access to both movies at whichever screen you choose. Trivia games

Teen Book Trivia is 2 p.m. April 8 at Grovetown Library.

Dr. Factenstein’s Trivia puts together hour-long, family-friendly, general-knowledge trivia games at restaurants, bars, and pubs across the area. The local schedule is as follows:

  • American Legion Post 205 in Augusta at 7 p.m. April 8.

  • Roma's Pizza and Manny's Sports Off Broad in Augusta at 7 p.m. April 9.

  • Whiskey Bent in Aiken at 7:30 p.m. April 9.

  • American Legion Post 63 in Augusta and Tailgate Tavern in Aiken at 7 p.m. April 10.

  • Edgar's Above Broad in Augusta at 7 p.m. April 11.

Trivia with Mike Sleeper hosts general knowledge and themed trivia competitions. It's free to play and there are prizes for the top three individuals/teams. Each game is at 7 p.m. and the schedule is as follows:

  • Draft Society in downtown Augusta and Pizza Joint in Aiken on April 8.

  • Farmhaus in downtown Augusta and Doc's Porchside in Grovetown on April 9.

  • Pizza Joint in Evans and Alley Taproom in Aiken on April 10.

Top Shelf Trivia is hosting a trivia night 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 10 at World of Beer in Augusta at 2819 Washington Rd. Admission is free and there will be prizes.

Jeopardy - Harlem History Edition is 1-3:30 p.m. April 13 at the Harlem Museum and Welcome Center at 135 N. Louisville St. At least two people are needed to play a game. Prizes are available.

More Augusta-area things-to-do

Fleet Feet's Thursday Fun Run returns 6-8 p.m. April 11 at Your Pie in North Augusta at 434 Georgia Ave. Participants should bring their own water plus lights and reflective gear for when it gets dark.

EastWind Village's next Social is noon-4 p.m. April 13 in Trenton at 527 Johnston Hwy. There will be a focus on foam-sword fighting. Admission is free.
