Softball: Vote now for lohud Player of the Week (April 22-28)

After another action-packed week, it's time to crown the lohud Softball Player of the Week.

Meet the finalists that were catalysts on the diamond. The players' credentials are listed above the fan poll — which will be live until 2 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on lohud social media accounts on Tuesday night. Now, let's meet the candidates.

Cat Arnold, Pearl River

The senior shortstop was hot at the plate throughout the Pirates' four-game week, which included games against Pawling, Nanuet and Section 5 foes Seneca Falls and Bishop Kearney. In total, she batted 11-for-17 (.647) including a double, triple, seven RBIs, five runs scored, two stolen bases and a 0.667 on-base percentage.

Alyssa Calvello, Yonkers Montessori

The eighth-grade pitcher had 44 strikeouts across the Eagles' four-game week, which included games against Lincoln, Putnam Valley, Yonkers, and a runner-up finish in the Yonkers City Tournament to Saunders. She was also a key asset in the batter's box, where she tallied 11 hits over the four-game slate, including two triples, two home runs -- one of them being a grand slam -- and eight RBIs.

Katie Cole, Somers

She had a productive week and successfully got on base multiple times in each of the Tuskers' three-game slate against Brewster, Lakeland and Fox Lane. Cole started her week going 3-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBIs against Brewster. She then followed up with two hits and a walk against Lakeland, and a double, RBI and two walks against Fox Lane.

Sabrina Cosgrove, Eastchester

The Eagles' eighth-grade pitcher went 4-0 through a competitive four-game week that included wins over Yorktown, Ardsley, Edgemont and Ursuline. She tallied 19 strikeouts for the week. Against Yorktown, she limited the Huskers to two hits and no earned runs. In a 5-3 win over Ardsley, she struck out seven batters and gave up two earned runs. She followed up with a shutout over Edgemont on Thursday and had a scrappy effort in the win over Ursuline, where she gave up five earned runs in the 15-8 victory and forced Ursuline to strand 10 runners on base for the game.

Sofia Haber, Ardsley

The Ardsley sophomore was solid in the circle throughout the Panthers' four-game week, which included games against Yorktown, Eastchester, Irvington and Dobbs Ferry. In total, she tallied 36 strikeouts and just three walks over 22 innings. Haber pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a win over Yorktown. She had seven strikeouts and three earned runs in a 5-3 loss to Eastchester. She also got the win in relief against Irvington, throwing three shutout innings and getting eight strikeouts. Haber topped off her week by earning Tournament MVP honors at the Ardsley Tournament and helped her team win at home in the finals against Dobbs Ferry, where she had one earned run and eight strikeouts over six innings.

Maysin Kannapin, Dobbs Ferry

The hard-hitting junior catcher went 7-for-10 (.700) this past week, with two doubles, one home run, five RBIs and a .750 on-base percentage against Sleepy Hollow, Hastings and Ardsley. During Dobbs Ferry's eight-run bottom of the seventh rally against rivertown rival Hastings in the Ardsley Tournament, Kannapin helped fuel the comeback with a two-run home run.

Gabriela Naar, Fox Lane

She batted a combined 4-for-7 (.571) in the Foxes' wins over Ossining and Somers, combining for three runs scored and six RBIs across both multi-hit performances.

Clare Picone, Rye Neck

The Monmouth-committed senior has been a defensive fixture behind the plate, and a big-time contributor in the batter's box. This past week, Picone went 9-for-11 (.818) with three doubles and 10 RBIs to help Rye Neck improve to 10-1 overall and stay unbeaten in league play. She's also thrown out 97% of baserunners attempting to steal this season.

Maggie Sampson, Putnam Valley

In addition to her defensive presence in the outfield, the Tigers' senior hit well at the plate and was a bright spot throughout the week, which included games against Yonkers Montessori, Croton-Harmon and a resumed contest against Panas. Sampson went 6-for-11 (.545) with a double, triple, RBI and two runs scored.

Nailah Searight, Saunders

Searight went 3-0 as pitcher, helping Saunders capture the Yonkers City Softball Tournament title. She racked up 41 strikeouts and allowed no walks, while giving up one run and three hits over 17 innings of action. She also threw a no-hitter in Saunders' tournament semifinal win over Gorton. Offensively, she went 9-for-10 (.900) for the week, with a double, triple, four home runs and 13 RBIs. She topped off her big week by being named Tournament MVP.

Callie Sniffen, Haldane

The Blue Devils' power hitter was a consistent bright spot in Haldane's games against North Salem and Pawling. She went a combined 7-for-10 (.700) through the week, with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored.

Lillian Tomlinson, Panas

It was a breakout week for the Panthers' freshman center fielder, who went a combined 7-for-13 (.538), with five runs scored, three RBIs and four stolen bases. Her speed and smart base-running was a pivotal piece in the Panthers' offense this past week, not only with stealing bases, but extending and moving into scoring position in opportune moments.

Eleanor Zamora, Croton-Harmon

The senior catcher batted 7-for-10 (.700) through the Tigers' wins over Putnam Valley and Byram Hills in their two-game week. She tallied a double, two walks, RBI, and four stolen bases.
