Softball, track standouts among Athlete of Week nominees

As the temperatures finally feel like spring in Montana, it’s time again for Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations to last week’s poll winners, Kinslee Reeves of Great Falls High softball and Kade Haverlandt of C.M. Russell High tennis.

Each week during competition, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the audience choosing the winner via poll, which are both posted below.

Athletic directors, coaches, parents, and fans are encouraged to send in Athlete of the Week nominations for competitors in all sports in northcentral Montana. Nominations can be sent to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.

Voting on this week’s poll will be open until Friday at 11:59 p.m., and the winners of the vote will be announced in the following week’s Athlete of the Week story.

Here are this week’s nominees for the girls:

Hope Medill, CMR track: The senior ran a state-qualifying time as well as a personal record of 48.3 in the 300-meter hurdles on Saturday at the Optimist Invite.

Ava Newmack, Great Falls High softball: The sophomore finished 2 for 4 at the plate in a win over Flathead on Tuesday with four RBIs, a double and a home run.

The nominees for the boys:
