Socorro High's Krisilyn Corral was one of city's best offensive players in softball

Socorro High School's Krisilyn Corral was one of the best high school softball players in El Paso during her four years on the varsity team.

On Tuesday night the talented all-around utility player will receive one more more chance to compete in El Paso when she plays for the Red Team in the Greater El Paso Coaches Association All-Star game at the Eastwood softball field. First pitch is at 6: 30 p.m.

In her four years on the varsity team, she finished with 38 homers, 199 RBIs and 28 wins in the circle.

"I really felt I grew so much in every way," Corral said. "The game has meant so much to me. I played the game as hard as I could and with as much passion as I could."

Corral, who will play junior college ball in Arizona next season, followed in the footsteps of her sister Samantha, who was a standout for the Bulldogs and graduated in 2017.

"My sister was certainly someone who did great things and I learned a great deal from her," said Corral, who drove in 66 runs this past season and helped the Bulldogs to the Class 6A playoffs. "I was also determined to do even better than her. I'm competitive and I want to be the best I can be. I'm excited to compete at the college level and continue to get better and be an all-round good player."

Socorro softball coach Shawn O'Neal praised Corral for her leadership and consistent play.

"Krisilyn will be missed. She gave our program everything she had," O'Neal said. "She played all over the field for us, there isn't anything she can't do. I'm looking forward to seeing her competing at the college level. I believe she has the potential to play at the college level."
