The schedule for the semifinals of the Olympic soccer tournament are out and lets just say that fans of the USWNT and Canada will either need to stay up incredibly late or get up incredibly early if they want to see.

Following Friday’s quarterfinals games which saw both teams advance, NBC released its schedule for their semifinal tilt. Stunningly, the game will be broadcast at 4 a.m. EST while the other semifinal match – Australia vs. Sweden – will start at 7 a.m. EST.

Needless to say, USWNT fans and some Canada fans aren’t exactly thrilled. People have quickly taken to Twitter to complain about how absurd it is to let the games start at that time.

Others are suggesting that the Olympics can easily change the time of the local starts to better suit all four nations. One person pointed out that if the times were swapped, Sweden could enjoy the game at 10 a.m. locally while Australia could watch at 6 p.m. locally.

It’s not inconceivable that the Olympics call an audible and make the change in the next day or so. It would be very hard to maximize eyeballs (and ad revenue) if they keep the schedule the way it is.

The USWNT and Canada have been fierce rivals for years. But the USWNT have owned the rivalry for decades, winning 51 of 61 career meetings.

Hopefully we get a resolution to this scheduling issue that works out better for everyone.
