Winter weather advisory: Up to 3 inches of snow possible for Greater Cincinnati this week

Snow is on the way to Greater Cincinnati, and it might affect your commute to work Tuesday.

The National Weather Service at Wilmington is issuing a winter weather advisory as 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible Monday night into Tuesday morning with rain and snow starting before 3 a.m. The advisory will be in affect from Monday at 7 p.m. through Tuesday. at 7 a.m.

As of Sunday afternoon, the advisory is in place for Hamilton, Clermont and Brown counties in Ohio, as well as in much of Northern Kentucky and portions of southeast Indiana.

These conditions may lead to slippery roadways. The National Weather Service advises drivers to slow down and use caution, especially on Tuesday morning.

Following a warm spell at the end of last week, chillier temperatures are expected to accompany the snow in the coming days. Daytime temperatures should remain above freezing, but below-freezing temperatures and precipitation are in the forecast during overnight hours early this week.

Temperatures will warm up to 42 degrees after Tuesday morning's snowfall and skies will clear to mostly sunny.

Precipitation isn't in the forecast again until Thursday when meteorologists predict a 40% chance of rain. On Friday night, a 40% chance of rain and snow is possible.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32 degrees. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph.

Monday: Rain likely, mainly after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 48 degrees. Northeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In the evening, rain and snow are possible before 3 a.m., then a chance of snow. Low around 30 degrees. Northeast wind 14 to 16 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42 degrees. West wind 10 to 13 mph. The evening will be partly cloudy, with a low around 26 degrees. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46 degrees. The evening will be partly cloudy, with a low around 33 degrees.

Thursday: A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 51 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 40%. The evening will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 33 degrees.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 44 degrees. There will be chance of rain and snow in the evening. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 38 degrees.
