A high school teacher in Michigan put a creative spin on the phrase “biting cold” after she woke up to snow in her front yard in late January.

Jennifer Ramirez shared her snow shark sculptures with her followers on Facebook, and thousands of people loved them.

Ramirez colored the snow sharks blue and gave them pink mouths, giving her creations a more realistic look. One erupted out of the ground and others appeared to be swimming through her yard.

Ramirez told MLive that she used a mixture of food coloring and water in a spray bottle to add color to the sharks.

“Wednesday we had the big snowfall and I shoveled all of it into a big ol pile, and then I think it was the next day, I separated the piles and started sculpting on Friday and finished them on Saturday,” she told WXYZ.

Her post had received more than 3,000 comments as of Feb. 1.

“Wow! That’s awesome! They look almost real,” one person said. “Love the colors.”

“The coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time,” another viewer said. “What a creative idea! I wish I lived closer to see them in person.”

“Wow! These are fantastic! They look so real like they are really swimming in water,” another said.

Ramirez lives in Madison Heights, Michigan, and works on her art when she isn’t teaching, MLive reported.

“I love creating. I just love creating anything, you know, I try to instill that in my students (hi students!) but ... it’s so much fun for me just to create,” Ramirez told WXYZ.

She told the outlet that art is more than just a profession for her.

“There’s not enough joy in the world and if I can share joy through my art and bring joy then I’m going to keep doing it,” she said, according to the outlet.

Madison Heights is about 14 miles north of Detroit.
