SNL: Kristen Wiig’s Aunt Linda Returns to Weekend Update to Roast #Barbenheimer and The Bear — Watch

Aunt Linda just doesn’t get it!

Saturday Night Live guest host Kristen Wiig this week reprised her grumpy Aunt Linda character to comment on popular entertainment during Weekend Update. (It’s been so long since her last visit, she initially confused Colin Jost for Seth Meyers, and later referred to Jost and Michael Che as Tina and Amy.)

Turns out, Aunt Linda is a fed-up Barbie. She cannot understand why the Greta Gerwig film is so popular, awarding it two Aunt Linda “WHAT IN THE’S” and four “GAHHHHS?” For Aunt Linda, Barbie is “90 minutes of stinko,” because she couldn’t understand it! “It didn’t make any sense! And where are they? On the moon?” she shouted.

But even Aunt Linda has to admit the film has some admirable qualities. For one, all that pink reminds her to take her Pepto Bismol. And secondly, she seems to have a soft spot for Ryan Gosling. “He’s very hard to make fun of,” she said.

What does Aunt Linda think of Oppenheimer? Oh, you mean that film directed by “Christopher No-thanks”? Aunt Linda says, “Nope-nheimer!”

“Why would anyone make a movie about the person who invented the microwave!” she declared.

On the TV side, Aunt Linda takes umbrage with The Bear. “I thought it was gonna be about bears living in the woods. Or, at the very least, about a hairy, doughy, gay man who has to raise his sister’s kids. Spoiler alert! It’s about a restaurant!”

She blames the back-of-house chaos in the Hulu series on Jeremy Allen White’s Calvin Klein campaign, and a staffing shortage. On the Aunt Linda grading scale, The Bear earned “one, big, fat WHAT THE FUDGE” and 15 “WHATTTT’S? GOING ONS.” (Hopefully Chef Carmy is still locked in the freezer so he doesn’t hear about this one.)
