A snapshot of top-tier NYC mayoral candidates in June’s primary election
While the majority of the mayoral candidates are Democrats, there are two Republicans running: Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels and Fernando Mateo, a spokesperson for the Federation of Taxi Drivers and United Bodegas of America. Their first debate proved feisty including the now-famous line by Mateo to Sliwa: “I have enough dirt to cover your body 18 feet over!”
New York City’s primary Democratic mayoral ballot reflects a dozen candidates; however, we’re focusing on the top eight contenders based on polling data.
