Six from Laramie County garner all-state volleyball nods

Nov. 8—CHEYENNE — Class 2A runner-up Burns landed three players on the Wyoming Coaches Association all-state team, which was released Monday afternoon.

Senior outside hitter Brooke Hansen picked up the second all-state nod of her career. She posted 269 kills, 236 digs and 145 assists to help the Lady Broncs go 17-19-1 this season.

Hansen was also voted Southeast Quadrant player of the year. She was joined on the all-state squad by classmates Tehya Gallegos and Savannah Kirkbride.

Gallegos, a setter, dished out 389 assists, 169 digs and 35 aces. Kirkbride, a middle, notched 150 kills, 238 digs and 48 blocks.

The Burns trio was joined on the All-Class 2A team by Pine Bluffs senior Emily Haas and junior Jessica Hoffman. The Lady Hornets placed fourth at the state tournament and were 16-15-2 overall.

Burns also had seniors Madison Foley and Sienna Gallegos voted to the all-quadrant team. Pine Bluffs' Avery Gray and Hattie Lerwick were also named to the all-quadrant squad.

Burns coach Anndee McKinney was voted the Southeast Quadrant's coach of the year.

Cheyenne East senior setter Bradie Schlabs was voted onto the 4A all-state squad. She had 519 assists, 184 kills and 158 digs to help the Lady Thunderbirds go 23-15 and reach the state tournament.

Schlabs was joined on the All-East Conference squad by teammate Janie Merritt and Cheyenne Central's Brooklynn Sullivan.
