What should you shop for at Aldi this month that allows you to best stick to your budget? The answer may depend on whether you plan to celebrate some of May’s popular holidays, like Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day weekend and graduation season.

Runner-Up: Clancy’s Potato Chip Combo

Unsurprisingly, potato chips — specifically Clancy’s Potato Chip Combo — made our list of best runner-up items to shop for at Aldi this May. Memorial Day falls on May 27 so barbecue meals, and their assorted side dishes, are top of mind for many Aldi shoppers.

Each combo features 18 bags of individually packaged chips. Flavors include five original, four barbecue, three sour cream and onion, three cheddar ridged and three salt and vinegar.

The entire combo set cost $6.99. After breaking down the price, this comes out to paying about 39 cents per potato chip bag.

Runner-Up: LaCroix Sparkling Flavored Water

Priced at $5.85 for a pack of 15 cans, there’s a lot to love about LaCroix Sparkling Flavored Water as an Aldi Find.

Aldi shoppers get to choose from assorted flavors including razz-cranberry, limoncello, lime and pamplemousse. Delicious sparkling flavors aside, you’ll be all smiles at the cost.

When we crunch the numbers, shoppers are only paying about 37 cents per can of sparkling water. Stock up on a package or two if you’re a fan.

Winner: Grillo’s Pickle de Gallo Pickle Salsa (Mild or Medium)

For our winning item, we wanted to choose something bold that could also nicely complement the Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day holidays. Grillo’s Pickle de Gallo Pickle Salsa was the landslide winner as our pick for the best Aldi buy to make this May.

This upcoming Aldi Find is $3.99 per container and customers may shop mild or medium flavors.

What’s in this salsa, you ask? GOBankingRates headed to the Grillo’s Pickles website and discovered Pickle de Gallo is made using just seven clean ingredients which include cucumbers, brine (water, distilled white vinegar and salt), yellow onion, red bell pepper and garlic.

It is also described as salsa with a fresh, crunchy twist. Bring along a container to the next potluck event you’re invited to and pair with chips or spread on top of hot dogs or burgers and enjoy!
