So, it turns out that no one may be safe in this enlightening reality check of an AskReddit thread that has people angrily expressing their various grievances with the different ways that people mispronounce seemingly simple enough words.

Should you find yourself confronted by the realization that you too have been fueling the blissfully ignorant fires of a widespread, all too commonly mispronounced word, let the shock settle, and truck onwards to help in the good cause of chipping away at the mispronounced word by actually pronouncing it correctly.

Okay, This Word Can Prove To Be Tricky Enough.

Not sure why this word is as tricky to consistently pronounce correctly as it is, but it's not a rare occurrence to overhear someone order themselves a nice autumnally inspired Turmeric Chai Latté from the Starbucks secret menu, only to mispronounce "Turmeric" into oblivion and beyond.
