‘A Simple Favor’ Is Getting a Sequel—with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively Reprising Their Roles

Hold on, A Simple Favor is getting a sequel and the leading stars, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are coming back too?!

According to Entertainment Tonight, Kendrick and Lively are teaming up for a follow-up to the 2018 mystery smash hit. Based on the 2017 novel by Darcey Bell, A Simple Favor follows two mothers that eventually become friends.

They are complete opposites, with Emily (Lively) being outspoken and Stephanie (Kendrick) being a reserved single mother who runs a mommy blog. After Emily mysteriously goes missing, Stephanie takes it upon herself to find her—and discovers some terrifying secrets along the way.

It’s no surprise the film is getting a sequel, being that it received good reviews from audiences and critics. It’s worth noting the movie grossed $97 million worldwide, despite having a $20 million budget. In addition, A Simple Favor received an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, there is no second novel in the book series, so the sequel won’t have much source material to go off of.

The sequel will be made by Lionsgate and Amazon Studios. Paul Feig (Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids) is set to direct and produce the film. No additional casting details have been announced. Either way, we’re certainly excited if Kendrick and Lively are on board.
