Sid the ‘goofy’ bison has the zoomies — and it was caught on camera at South Dakota zoo

Screen grab from Great Plains Zoo on Facebook

You’ve probably seen videos of cats and dogs getting the zoomies — zooming through households and playing at certain times of the day.

But you’ve probably never seen a video of a bison with the zoomies, until now.

The Great Plains Zoo in South Dakota captured a video of Sid, the “goofy” young bison in the herd.

“Ever wonder if bison get the zoomiez? Sid sure does!” the zoo shared in a Feb. 16 Facebook post. “Being the youngest and only male bison in the herd, zoomiez are in his job description — along with annoying the women in the herd.”

Video shows the young bison hopping and prancing around the perimeter of his enclosure, shaking his head and flicking his tail back and forth and trying to encourage his herd mates to join in on the fun. He even shoves his face and horns into the snow in his excitement.

The zoo set the video to music from the game Mario Kart, in which characters race around elaborate race tracks in go-karts.

“If you’re looking for Sid on your next visit, he’s usually the one being goofy!” zoo officials wrote in the post.

The video seemed to bring joy to viewers. Some compared his antics to an excited puppy or a child in the comments on the post.

“Oh my gosh!! He’s just a pup, playing in the snow and the sunshine!” someone wrote. “I love this!”

“I love watching children playing in the snow,” another user wrote. “It doesn’t matter what species.”

“Never imagined them to be so playful!” someone else wrote.
