A Shreveport apartment complex, recently at the center of controversy, went up in flames Sunday, May 26.

The fire happened just two weeks after the apartment complex made news after its possible water disconnection, due to an absent landlord.

Jolie Apartments, located in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road, had over 20 Shreveport fire units on scene Sunday when a three-story apartment building had smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building.

According to Brandon Lee, Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief, Shreveport fire was dispatched to Jolie Apartments just before 2:30 p.m. on reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an individual hanging out of a window. Fire personnel immediately began to rescue the individual and according to Lee the individual was successfully rescued via a ladder and sustained no injuries.

The Shreveport Times has reached out to the City of Shreveport Mayor's Office in response to this fire and the current situation of the apartment complex but did not receive a response prior to deadline.
