A win by two-time region qualifier Even Ridgway over returning region qualifier Logan Acevedo in the 165-pound bout highlighted a 36-point run over the final seven bouts as the Bulldogs (4-0, 4-0) defeated the Rockets (4-4, 1-3) and set up a showdown for the Class A Central championship at No. 3 St. John Vianney (3-0, 3-0) on Jan. 24. It was the first bout of the season Ridgway.

Defending state 215-pound champion Hudson Skove (215), returning state qualifier Conor Delaney (190), Ryder Izzo (157), Luke Dougherty (175) and Henry Marshall (106) pinned during the decisive run and Matt Smith (heavyweight) also won in sudden victory.

Both teams wrestled without a top wrestler - freshman and SCT 144-pound champion for Rumson-Fair Haven - returning state qualifier for Raritan.

The Garnet Gulls (6-1, 3-0) clinched a share of the Class B Central championship with the win over the Titans (5-3, 1-1). It is Point Beach's 25th divisional title. It can clinch the outright divisional championship with a win over old rival Shore (4-5, 2-1) Jan. 24 at Point Beach.

Returning district runner-up Michael Poniros (175) made his season debut with a win by major decision and returning region fifth-place finisher Michael Volek defeated returning district third-place finisher Anthony Mucciolo in the 144-pound bout as the Spartans (4-1) defeated Manalapan (1-4).

Justin Penta (113), Steven Perez (126), Dominic Volek (132) and Daniel Farina (215) all pinned for Ocean.
