Clovis West High School was locked down again Tuesday afternoon after another threat to campus safety.

The threatening phone call came in around 2:35 p.m.

Clovis Unified School Police investigated the shooting threat at Millbrook and Teague avenues. Fresno Police also arrived, along with the helicopter, to check for any possible threat, Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

“It sounds very similar to the other ones,” she said. “So far we don’t have anything proving that it’s legit.”

Officers did a campus check “and so far nothing indicates that it is a legitimate threat. Of course, we’ll take everything seriously.”

The campus was locked down for precautionary measures.

In a news release, Clovis Unified said the campus was all clear.

“Clovis West High School was briefly placed on lockdown after being notified by Fresno Police Department that another call had been received, similar to those received by local law enforcement earlier this month. An immediate, coordinated response with local law enforcement that included an aerial and ground search of the campus confirmed that the school was clear to end the lockdown and continue with regular operations. We are grateful to our local, state and federal law enforcement partners who support our campuses every day.”

Fort Washington Elementary across the street from Clovis West was briefly placed in a lockdown, too.

Normal operations were quickly resumed following the all clear from our safety partners, and school released on time, CUSD said.

It’s the latest lockdown for the Clovis Unified school, following threats that police have previously called pranks on Feb. 3, Feb. 6, Feb. 8 and Feb. 9.
