She's got game: 20 Greater Taunton girls lacrosse players to watch this spring

Another high school lacrosse season is underway in the Greater Taunton area.

Last year, Dighton-Rehoboth (11-7) were the top local team again, qualifying for the postseason and making it to the Division 3 Round of 32, where it fell to No. 12 Old Rochester. Bristol-Plymouth (10-9) made both the MIAA Division 3 and MVADA tournaments, falling to No. 31 Greater Lowell Tech in the preliminary round and falling to Essex North Shore in the MVADA Championship.

Bridgewater-Raynham (7-13) had some strong points, including winning five out of six games at one stretch, while Taunton (2-16) earned a season sweep of Stoughton.

This spring so far, all four Greater Taunton girls lacrosse teams have put in solid solid outings, with several players rising to the occasion to deliver for their respective teams. Here are 20 Greater Taunton area girls lacrosse players to keep your eyes on this spring.

Taunton

Senior midfielder Cali Melo reached a career milestone in the Tigers' most recent game against Dighton-Rehoboth, scoring her 100th career goal while tallying five goals, three assists and six draws. While she remains at the heart of the Taunton offense, the Tigers have also seen contributions from junior attacker Maddi Szala, sophomore midfielder Taryn Campbell and junior attacker/midfielder Giovanna Guarino, while senior goalie Olivia Espada has made some solid saves in net.

Bridgewater-Raynham

Junior midfielder Emily Keefe continues to lead the way on offense for the Trojans, scoring five goals, including the 100th of her career, in the opener against Whitman-Hanson. While she has led the way on the scoresheet, senior attacker Emily Long, junior attacker/midfielder Grace LaRose and senior midfielder Lexi White are all serious scoring threats. On the defensive side of things, senior defender Leena Haikola has led the way for B-R.

Bristol-Plymouth

The Craftsmen see the return of sophomore attacker Emma Ericson, who scored 43 goals in her debut campaign and looks set to continue to be an offensive leader for the next few years. Senior defender Gianna Viola has been a leader on the back line while sophomore Addison Meluskey and juniors Rachel Spooner and Evelyn Mealy all look set to be key contributors.

Dighton-Rehoboth

Back-to-back Taunton Daily Gazette Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year Karina Bosco once again highlights the Falcons, with the junior attacker notching 17 goals and four assists through the first four games. Sophomore attacker Ainsley Zibrida, junior attacker Gia Papa and junior midfielder Olivia Thibert have all also contributed on offense, while freshman goalie Phoebe Braga made 17 saves in her first career start against Apponequet.
