Sherri Shepherd Apologizes to Niecy Nash For Major No-No at Her Wedding

Sherri Shepherd and Niecy Nash

Sherri Shepherd has opened up quite a can of worms regarding proper wedding etiquette, and it's all because of a major mistake she made while attending best friend Niecy Nash's wedding a few years back.

In a clip from her talk show SHERRI, the 56-year-old host admitted to committing a fashion no-no at Nash's nuptials to Jessica Betts in 2020—and even though it's been three years, the Claws star is still mad.

"Niecy is mad because I wore a white mini dress to her wedding," Shepherd admitted to the audience, while sharing a clip of herself getting down on the dance floor in said white dress.

"When she was screaming at me, I told her I said, 'the old rule about wedding guests not wearing white has been thrown out," Shepherd stated, arguing, "I thought I read somewhere that people didn't care anymore."

"But Niecy said the rule still stands," she added—and from the sound of the crowd's reaction, her audience definitely agreed with Niecy on this one

But once Nash joined her on stage, Shepherd was able to give her the apology she deserved, to which the Dahmer actress exclaimed, "THANK YOU!" in response.

However, even though she can forgive, Nash doesn't forget, as she said she joked she is still mad at The View alum before changing her mind and adding, "No, I accept your apology."

But the light-hearted interaction between the two gal pals still sparked a debate in the comments, with Instagram users giving their opinion on wedding do's and don'ts.

"U can wear white🤍 u look good!!!🔥🔥" one person wrote to Shepherd, even though the majority of other comments were strongly leaning the opposite way.

"Sherri, you were wrong as two left shoes for wearing white to that wedding," another person quipped. "I’m glad she forgave you."

Someone else explained, "Unless the bride/groom tell you that the dress code is all white, you do not wear white to a wedding!"

Even Kristin Chenoweth had an opinion on the situation, writing in her own comment, "Hahahaha Sherri! Girl you know better. You’re my girl but you should’ve called me. We will discuss next time I’m on your show!"

Hopefully that was Shepherd's first and last time wearing a white dress to someone else's wedding!
