Shepherd’s pie recalled in Florida, California, Texas, Georgia might have copper wire

USDA

The recent run of not-food-in-your-food recalls continued with the Lone Star Bakery pulling 5,740 pounds — or 11,480 8-ounce boxes — of Boomerang’s Beef Shepherd’s Pie because copper wire isn’t terribly edible.

The USDA’s recall notice said Lone Star Bakery told the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that it “received consumer complaints reporting entwined copper wire embedded in beef shepherd’s pie products with a use by date of Sept. 23, 2023.”

This covers 8-ounce boxes of Boomerang’s Beef Shepherd’s Pie with “USE BY 092323” on the label and “Est. 31772” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They went to distributors and retail stores in Florida, Texas, California and Georgia.

If you have one of these boxes, put them in the garbage or take them back to the store for a full refund.
