Shepard Fund accepting grant applications from local nonprofit organizations

COLUMBUS — The John W. and Edna McManus Shepard Fund is accepting applications for its 2024-2025 grant program.

Each year grants are awarded to Guernsey County nonprofit organizations that focus primarily on cultural and economic development. Historically, grant awards have not exceeded $5,000 per grantee.

The application deadline is Friday, May 31. Applications can be accessed online through https://columbusfoundation.org/nonprofit-center/grant-opportunities/columbus-foundation-grants/operating-and-program-support/regional-funds, on and after April 29. Once the grant cycle opens, a link to the portal will be available on the website.

The Shepard Fund was established in 1998 by Arthur E. Shepard in memory of his parents, longtime residents of Cambridge. His father, John Shepard, owned and operated a dry cleaning and tailoring business for 36 years before his death in 1944. His mother, Edna Mc Manus, moved to Cambridge with her family when the Cambridge Glass Company opened. Her father made the first piece of glassware produced at the company.
