MADISON – For the second time in a week, Marisa Moseley and her staff filled a major need for the Wisconsin women’s basketball team.

Tess Myers, a sharpshooter from Duquesne, announced her commitment to the Badgers on Friday evening. The 5-foot-9 guard comes to the UW as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

She announced her decision on social media.

“Badger nationnn let’s do this,” she wrote on Instagram.

Moseley announced the signing Saturday morning.

"A 1,000-point scorer at the collegiate level, she is a dedicated student-athlete who adds a proven shooting touch from deep to our team," Moseley said in the news release. "She finished in the top 85 nationally in individual three-point percentage and total three pointers made this season showcasing her long range ability. Tess has a great personality and enjoys having fun while being a true competitor on the court."

The news comes three days after Carter McCray, a 6-1 forward from Northern Kentucky committed to UW, an addition that gives the Badgers added size, rebounding as well as an addition post presence.

The team’s other need is three-point shooting. The Badgers ranked last in the Big Ten in that statistic this season (28.3) and were the only team in the league to shoot below 30%.

Enter Myers, a career 38% three-point shooter. The native of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, shot 36.1% from beyond the arc this season (74 of 205) while averaging 7.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Myers also had 200-plus three-point attempts as a sophomore and junior and hit 37.3 and 35.7%, respectively.

Tessa Towers finds new home

The news of Myers' commitment came around the same time former Badger Tessa Towers announced her commitment to Ball State. The 6-5 center, who played in one game this past season, has three years of eligibility remaining.
