The unidentified woman was part of a tour group off the northwest coast of Hawaii’s big island, the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources said in a press release. The group had 17 people; she was one of two people swimming, while the others were on paddle boards or canoes.

The woman was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon, according to the Tribune-Herald.

She was about 200 yards offshore, along with the rest of the tour, when the attack occurred, the DLNR said. A nearby jetskiier spotted the shark first and alerted the group shortly before the attack.

Kehakai State Park and Kua Bay, where the attack occurred, were closed for 24 hours.
