Shakira shows off philosophy certificate from Penn

Hips don’t lie, and neither do Ivy League certificates.

After weeks of hard work and intense study, superstar singer Shakira has earned a certificate for completing an online philosophy course offered at the University of Pennsylvania.

“I know . . . my hobbies are very impractical, but it took a lot of hours after the kids were asleep,” wrote the Colombian-born beauty in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Thank you Plato and predecessors for all the ‘fun’ over the past month!”

The course, which traces philosophy’s origins back to antiquity, reportedly takes about 17 class hours to complete.

This isn’t the first foray into higher learning for the 43-year-old entertainer. In 2007, she took a UCLA course titled Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to Circa A.D. 843, noted The Associated Press at the time.

It was less than three months ago, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez were rocking Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium in a rollicking Super Bowl LIV halftime show.

Back in March, Shakira reposted a video of herself studying during the early stages of the coronavirus lockdown with the message: “Just a benign ancient philosophy course at (Penn) to make the confinement productive. I have to be able to think about other things rather than ‘Paw Patrol!!!’”

Shakira, who has been in a relationship with Spanish soccer great Gerard Piqué for the past decade, shot to fame in the U.S. during the early 2000s after the release of her first English-language album “Laundry Service.” The LP spawned two Billboard Top 10 songs: “Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes.”

In 2006, she finally hit the top spot with her megahit “Hips Don’t Lie,” which was honored as Song of the Year at the MTV Latin Awards.
