More rain, wind hits Des Moines metro

Sirens sounded as the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning Sunday night for Dallas, Madison and southeastern Adair counties.

The storm fell below severe intensity by 9:30 p.m. and the warning was allowed to lapse in Dallas County, but continued through 2 a.m. Monday in Madison, and Adair counties, and was extended to Warren and Cass counties The weather service said it could still bring 50-mph gusts as it moves across the Des Moines metro.

The weather service said it was continuing to watch for more rain Monday and Tuesday before drier weather sets in Wednesday. Rain could then return for the Memorial Day weekend.
