A Boots store in Devon has been forced to close after it became flooded, the high street retailer confirmed.

The shop and pharmacy on Abbot Greenhill Retail Park in Kingsteignton has been shut until further notice due to flooding after heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

A sign on the shop's main entrance said the flooding had been "severe".

The company said on Thursday it was hoping to reopen the store as soon as possible and customers who needed to collect prescriptions could do so through a hatch at the front of the shop.

A Boots spokesperson said: "We hope to reopen the Boots store at Abbot Greenhill Retail Park today, following a flood yesterday (Wednesday) that caused the store to close.

"We are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly and as safely as possible, but in the meantime customers can access prescriptions through the hatch at the front of the store."
