Seven-week Stepping On session starting June 10 in Millersburg

A new session of Stepping On, through the Falls Prevention Program of Holmes, Wayne & Ashland, will begin June 10.

The seven-week class will be held 1-3 p.m. Mondays at Faith Lutheran Church, 187 S. Clay St., Millersburg.

One in four older adults has a fall each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Stepping On program has been researched and proven to reduce falls by 31%, according to the Holmes County General Health District.

The session are two hours and provide strategies for avoiding falls, including balance and strength exercises, home safety check suggestions, medication review and more. A physical therapist and pharmacist and others visit the classes to provide falls prevention information and strategies.

The workshop is designed specifically for people who are ages 60 or older and have fallen and/or have a fear of falling.
