WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has given an update on his injury status heading into WrestleMania.

Rollins suffered an injury during his match with Jinder Mahal on last week's edition of Monday Night Raw, with reports stating that he may be out of action for months.

On tonight's Raw (January 22) Rollins opened the show, appearing with his knee visibly taped up.

Rollins explained that after his match with Mahal he knew he was injured and sat in the locker room where it sunk in that he "might be out for a long time".

"I though for the first time that it was a real possibility that I might miss WrestleMania," Rollins added.

Rollins went on to explain that he had an MRI during the week and the result was "not great".

"I have a grade two tear in my MCL and a partially torn meniscus," he explained, adding that he was "taking it day by day".

But before he could finish, Rollins was interrupted by Intercontinental Champion Gunther, who told him: "We've been avoiding each other."

However, Rollins told Gunther he hadn't finished yet, exclaiming: "I don't give a damn what the doctors tell me, how hard I have to rehab, how hard I have to push this knee, I will keep my promise.

"I will take this title into WrestleMania, I will do everything in my power to walk out of WrestleMania as champion."

With Rollins confirming he will compete at WrestleMania, Gunther gave him a warning, saying: "On Saturday, I'm going to win the Royal Rumble and I'm going to choose you as my opponent for WrestleMania.

"With all due respect, I'm going to target your knee, I'm going to target your back, I'm going to target everything thats not 100%, and I'm going to beat you and become the World Heavyweight Champion."

Gunther will be one of 30 WWE Superstars competing in the Royal Rumble on Saturday (January 27) with the winner getting to choose which WWE title to challenge for at WrestleMania.

While Gunther seemingly set himself up as Rollins' WrestleMania opponent, Rollins has also been targeted by CM Punk after he returned to WWE at Survivor Series.
