Seth Meyers’ First Post-Strike Late Night Script ‘Leaks’ — Who’s His First Target?

Late-night TV is back in full force starting Monday, and Late Night With Seth Meyers is lining up its crosshairs. In a new Instagram post Monday afternoon, Meyers “leaked” the first few lines of the show’s script, which confirms Trump’s multiple indictments as the first topic of conversation.

“Welcome back, everyone!,” the script in the photo reads. “I’m not sure what you’ve been up to these past five months, but I’ve used the time to reflect and have come to the conclusion that yes, I’ve been too hard on the guy. Who among us isn’t under multiple indictments?”

In the caption, Meyers celebrated his big return, while joking about the timing of Late Night’s return. “So happy to be back at my desk writing again,” he wrote. “Tonight’s show is an hour long ‘Closer Look’ that will catch up on the last five months as well as today’s events. I mean what are the odds that the day we come back a former President is appearing in court? Only 2-1? Huh, I thought they’d be higher…”

To make room for the supersized iteration of the show’s signature segment, it will forego its usual guest format for Monday’s episode, which is set to air at 12:35 am ET on NBC.

As previously reported, Meyers’ Strike Force Five brethren all return to air Monday. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live will host Arnold Schwarzenegger and musical guest Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit; CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will welcome Neil deGrasse Tyson and a performance by bandleader Louis Cato; and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will feature Matthew McConaughey and musical guest John Mayer.
