Serena & Lily's Cofounder Just Launched a Hawaiian-Inspired Home Collection

Even if you don't have a home on the islands of Hawaii, there's a new brand that will transport you to a tropical oasis the moment you enter your bedroom.

Averylily is the newest home and design brand from Lily Kanter, the co-founder of Serena and Lily. The brand launched its inaugural home collection this week—and with plenty of luxurious linens and beach-ready robes made of Turkish cotton, it's safe to say that you'll want everything.

Kanter started the design studio business of Averylily with Hawaii-based interior designer Avery Solmssen. The duo met somewhat by serendipity as Solmssen designed Kanter's Hawaii home, which she purchased in 2021. Shortly after meeting, they decided to create a brand that celebrates their mutual love of Hawaii and all the talent in it.

"What sets Averylily apart is the sense of place and community—the context of our surroundings in Hawai’i is everything," shares Kanter in a media release. "Having the opportunity to build a values-driven business that honors the people and places, with someone as talented as Avery, is a dream.”

The home collection was created out of a need Solmssen recognized in her community, "As an interior designer working on the islands for more than a decade, I've seen a huge need for home essentials that are available on the islands. People want beautiful design start to finish, and a home they can move into and enjoy right away,” she explains.

Based in Honolulu, the collection is thoughtfully designed and inspired by the elements that are central to the islands. Everything from the wind and the waves to the sand is celebrated through the materials and intricate detailing. Stonewashed fabrics and the highest thread counts, combined with hand-blocked prints and seamless neutrals, embrace the luxury and joy of relaxation.

"Hawai’i has a special blend of colors and traditions, and we wanted to honor the local elements found in nature, traditional design, and a color palette that spotlights all the natural beauty of Hawai’i," shares Kanter.

The color palette for the collection is mainly earthy and neutral, with a few pops of vibrant orchid.

"We took inspiration from the Island's natural hues, deep greens, volcanic blacks, and oceanic blues. Then we imbued these hues into our bedding line creating a unique representation the Hawaii’s rich and varied scenery," Solmssen explains.

Though the collection honors Hawaii's natural beauty through the design of its linens, pillows and beach essentials, the brand also gives back to its home. In light of the fires that impacted Maui and all of Hawaii in 2023, Averylily donates 10% of the profits made from this collection to local organizations that provide shelter and aid for those in need.

Averylily also hires local makers and artisans to help bring its collection to life. The first collaboration can be seen in the surf collection. The surfer print come from Andrew Mau of Mau-House, a high-end retailer based in Honolulu.
