If you've ever needed proof that adopting a shelter dog can change a life, take a look at a rescue Pittie giving her new mama some love. She was so happy to be in her new home! And hopefully Sally's story will inspire others to open their homes up to a new pup.

The worst was about to happen to Sally. As her new owner explained in her video, the dog was about to be euthanized until she stepped in and saved Sally.

The dog mama is a Pit Bull advocate and an animal rescuer, so you know she was going to do something when she saw that Sally was in need. The video she shared shows Mama and Sally having a snuggle in bed. You would never have known that they only met that day. The Pit was already completely comfortable with her new owner. She gave her tons of hugs while they cuddled too.

"I bought a senior dog from the shelter the day she was supposed to be euthanized. This is how she thanked me," the dog mama wrote in the text overlay. "Sally is the world’s biggest cuddle bug," she added in the caption.

Commenters were here for Sally and her new home. "Mama I’ve been waiting my whole life for you," wrote one person, as if reading Sally's mind. "She wants to be even closer, the little snorts," another person gushed. "Pitties are so delish, they are so mushyyyy," chimed in someone else. "I would like to thank you for saving her! She is so appreciative," agreed another commenter.

Pit Bulls Aren’t Dangerous

So many Pitties are left to languish in shelters and rescues because people think they're dangerous. This is a serious misconception! Pitties were once thought of as being aggressive, but we now understand that Pits are typically only aggressive if trained to be so or are not properly reared. There is nothing inherently aggressive about a Pittie.

The important thing is to be an experienced dog owner if you decide to get a Pit Bull. Statistically, Pitties do have higher rates of biting than other breeds. But that's because Pitties are incredibly loyal to their owners and are very protective. They're guard dogs by default, so an inexperienced owner might not be able to manage their protective side, resulting in accidents.

That's all to say that if you want to get a Pittie, you have to be committed to the training and socialization they need. But if you do train your dog well, Pitties can truly be the sweetest pets.
