Seneca's Quel'Ron House, Trinity's Drae Vasser announce college basketball commitments

Seneca's Quel'Ron House emerged as one of Kentucky's best basketball players over the last two years.

House took his time making his college decision and was one of the state's last players in the Class of 2024 to announce his commitment to an NCAA Division I program.

On Tuesday, House posted on X, formerly Twitter, that he has committed to Jacksonville State.

"They showed me what it means to be family," House told The Courier Journal. "They have stayed with me since two summers ago. They have shown me nothing but love, they have just been here for the longest, and I truly believe that I can go to Jacksonville State and (make an) impact as a freshman."

House is one of two top senior guards from Louisville to announce college commitments this week, joining Trinity's Drae Vasser. Vasser, a 6-foot-1 guard, has announced he'll head to Vincennes University, a junior college in Indiana.

House said Jacksonville State was his only Division I offer, but he also considered a few junior colleges.

In his senior year, House finished among the top 10 in the state for points per game (27.9), shot 50.5% from the field and converted 43.6% of his 3-point attempts.

House wrapped up his high school career as The Courier Journal's Seventh Region Player of the Year. He also made first-team All-State, was a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist and was the MVP of the Kentucky-Ohio All-Star game.

Vasser led Jeffersontown to the Sweet 16 as a sophomore before transferring to Trinity, where he helped the Shamrocks reach the state quarterfinals last season. Vasser averaged 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds as a senior and earned third-team All-State honors.
