Senate considers $1.2T spending package: Watch live

The Senate on Friday will consider a $1.2 trillion, six-bill funding package with a midnight deadline approaching to avoid a partial government shutdown.

This compromise suite of legislation has detractors in both parties. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has expressed displeasure at the price tag, although he isn’t expected to stand in the way of a vote.

A two-week recess for the Easter holiday, scheduled to start Saturday, adds further impetus for reaching a resolution.
