So what if Sen. Marsha Blackburn is a fighter? That doesn't make her wrong on the issues

Re: “Blackburn’s bipartisan win makes her no less a pugilist,” by David Plazas, May 18.

Has not the pugilist accuser become a pugilist as well?

Mr. Plazas’ opinion column was a quite interesting read. He admits that Sen. Marsha Blackburn has many times encouraged bipartisanship in creating and passing legislation. His whole column reminded me of the late Dr. Ira North, who was minister for the Madison Church of Christ. His famous quote for elders was, “Every man has his say, but no man has his way all the time.”

Senator Blackburn noted she was available to listen and have conversation. Being willing to converse with the opposite side never means you have to agree. Nor having had a say means you have never been heard because a decision is made opposite your way.

Yet isn’t this last statement where even Plazas shows his pugilist title? Just because Blackburn has critics does not mean her critics are right and she is wrong. And just because Blackburn is a critic doesn’t mean she is wrong.

For many today, lawfare has become a way to coerce people to follow the particular beliefs.

The U.S House of Representatives investigated whether the Department of Justice was targeting pro-life activists.

The House impeached President Biden’s Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for not protecting the U.S.-Mexico border, but Republicans are accused of destroying democracy?

The Supreme Court has declared that Biden did not have the authority on his own to pay off student debt. He must have funds set and approved by Congress for that purpose. Yet, he sticks his nose up in the air, declaring he doesn’t care for the Supreme Court and will do what he wants to do.

Democracy is being destroyed by his arrogance and pugilism.
