Selena Gomez to Play Linda Ronstadt in New Biopic

Selena Gomez is set to portray a legendary musician!

According to multiple reports, the 31-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress will play Linda Ronstadt.

The film, which is in pre-production, will be produced by Ronstadt's manager, John Boylan, and James Keach (who produced the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line).

So far, a director and additional cast members have not been announced.

Gomez teased the news with her followers on Tuesday night -- prior to announcing her latest social media break.

On her Instagram Story, the "Good For You" singer shared a picture of her reading Ronstadt's 2013 biography, Simple Dreams.

Ronstadt is an 11-time GRAMMY winner who made a name for herself in rock and roll, country and Latin music. During her decades-long career, the 77-year-old reached the top of the music charts with her song, "You're No Good," and found critical success with her albums, Heart Like a Wheel and Simple Dreams.

Ronstadt was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, and received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2019.

In 2011, the veteran musician retired from music after being diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy.
