See video of a swimmer’s close encounter with a bunch of sharks off the Florida coast

Talk about your close calls.

Recent drone footage shows a surfer paddling off the Florida coast with sharks just a few hundred feet away.

Wildlife photographer Paul Dabill managed to capture the thrilling footage near Jupiter Island late last month.

In the clip, reposted on Instagram Sunday by the Naples Daily News and other media outlets, four good-sized sharks are seen swimming in a circle, while a person paddles nearby blissfully unaware. Suddenly, another three sharks pop up in the frame.

“I fly my drone at this beach frequently,” Dabill told Storyful Video. “I almost always see sharks. This time of year is unique because the lemon sharks are around and come close to shore.”

The water was “calm and clear” along the Treasure Coast, Dabill added, allowing for a picture-perfect aerial view.

The individual close to these apex predators was not likely at risk, though. Lemons are considered one of the most docile shark species, and instances of them attacking humans are extremely rare.
