SEE IT: New Jersey congresswoman says fellow lawmakers led groups through U.S. Capitol as ‘reconnaissance’ for deadly siege

A New Jersey congresswoman claims she saw fellow lawmakers lead groups through the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 5 as “reconnaissance for the next day” when a pro-Trump mob overtook the building.

Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) made the allegations in a Facebook Live video Tuesday while explaining to her constituents why she was voting to impeach President Trump.

“I also intend to see that those members of Congress who abetted him; those members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol that I saw on Jan. 5 — a reconnaissance for the next day; those members of Congress that incited this violent crowd,” Sherill said towards the end of her 13-minute video.

“I’m going to see they are held accountable, and if necessary, ensure that they don’t serve in Congress,” she said.

Sherill didn’t specify who was in the tour groups or which lawmakers were involved. The video had been viewed over 25,000 times as of Wednesday morning.

The New Jersey representative, a former U.S. Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, also shared her account of the deadly Capitol building siege that killed five people.

She recalled how she helped Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) — who had just undergone knee surgery — escape to safety.

“We were worried that around every corner, we might find the mob,” said Sherill.
