Olathe Northwest was a big winner in Kansas Class 6A at the girls high school golf state tournament — held Monday and Tuesday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course.

The Ravens cleared second-place Manhattan by 24 strokes. Shawnee Mission East finished third, while Washburn Rural and Olathe East rounded out the top five in order.

Blue Valley’s Hadley Neese finished second among the individual scores, shooting a two-day total of 140 (72, 68). Olathe Northwest had three different golfers place top 10: No. 5 Avery Hearshman (75-75, 150), No. 6 McKenzie Kelso (75-77, 152) and No. 9 Claire Sullivan (79-76, 155).

Maize’s Kinslea Jones took first in Kansas Class 6A. Olathe West’s Savannah Cagle (No. 7) also placed in the top 10, as did the Shawnee Mission East duo of Ella Slicker (No. 3) and Ingrid Blacketer (No. 8). Olathe East’s Jenny Sun tied for 10th.

On the Missouri side, Ray-Pec finished in sixth in the Class 4 tournament, which was held at Bolivar’s Silo Ridge Golf Club. Visitation Academy took first in the team scores at the event.

Notable individual finishers included Liberty North’s Bailey Burkett (third-place finish, 149 two-round total) and Park Hill South’s Makenna Casey, who tied for seventh after hitting a combined 152 (77-75).
